LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lafayette-trained wrestler Heidi Lovelace has signed with the WWE, according to PWInsider.com.

Lovelace trained at Billy Roc's School of Roc Wrestling Academy and battled in town as recently as November, during Roc's final show before retiring.

Lovelace has racked up several credentials as an independent wrestler, including battling in locally televised matches in Ohio Valley Wrestling, as an extra on WWE and in Japan for Stardom at Korakuen Hall.

She also won the Chikara Young Lions Cup in 2014.

According to the report, Lovelace's signing accompanies other female wrestlers, including Kimber Lee and Evie.

In March, Lovelace told the Journal & Courier that the WWE has been improving the industry for women.

"Recently, the WWE has really shined a spotlight on their women’s matches and on the ladies that they have there," she said. "And they’re really setting an example for other independent promotions because a lot of times, what the WWE does, the independents usually follow suit. …

"You’re really seeing a lot more women just shine and really open people’s eyes to what women’s wrestling can be."
