We last saw Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series back on November 20, where he shockingly lost to the returning Bill Goldberg in under two minutes. Since then, we haven’t heard much from “The Beast,” but his advocate — Paul Heyman — did speak out about his client’s loss on a recent episode of Raw, where he announced that Lesnar will compete in the Royal Rumble match for the second year in a row.
The Royal Rumble show will likely be used to set up a third Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg match at WrestleMania 33, where Lesnar could get his win back. But, we won’t have to wait until WrestleMania 33 to see Lesnar compete in one on one action again, as it’s been announced that “The Beast” will have a match when WWE returns to Dallas, Texas on February 17.
As of this writing, WWE hasn’t named an opponent for Lesnar. But, he probably won’t face anyone of note, as the match will take place at a non-televised live event.
Lesnar has sporadically appeared at WWE live events since he re-signed with the company in the spring of 2015, where he’s faced off against names such as Kofi Kingston [which aired on the WWE Network], Randy Orton, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and, most recently, Rusev. The matches are usually nothing special, as they typically last no longer than five minutes.
Brock Lesnar’s last appearance at a WWE live event was short lived, as he crushed Rusev in less than one minute. Apparently, WWE is planning to book a more aggressive Brock Lesnar, following his shocking loss to Bill Goldberg. Basically, WWE wants both Lesnar and Goldberg to look unstoppable going into their rematch at WrestleMania 33. So, you should expect to see “The Beast” completely destroy everyone in less than a minute in the coming months, as we’re now on the road to WrestleMania.
WWE has also announced another live event date for Lesnar, as he’s scheduled to work the March 10 event in Buffalo, New York.
As of right now, WWE hasn’t announced Lesnar’s next television appearance. So, it’s unclear if he’ll appear on Raw in the weeks leading up to January 29’s Royal Rumble show.
While we don’t know when Lesnar will appear on Raw next, we do know when his biggest adversary — Bill Goldberg — will show up on WWE’s flagship program, as the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida — which will host Raw on January 2, recently put out the following statement regarding the first WWE show of the new year.
“Once again, Amalie Arena will host the greatest Superstars in sports entertainment. WWE Superstars scheduled to appear include GOLDBERG, United States Champion Roman Reigns, WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, Raw General Manager Mick Foley, Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day, Charlotte, Braun Strowman, Rusev, Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Enzo & Cass, and more! Tickets start at just $20!”
It’s unlikely that Lesnar will show up on the January 2 edition of Raw because WWE will probably want to keep him away from Goldberg until the Royal Rumble show later that month.
If Lesnar is going to appear on WWE’s weekly Monday night show prior to the Royal Rumble, we’ll probably find out when at some point in the near future. Of course, there’s a strong chance that both Lesnar and Goldberg could appear on the Royal Rumble go-home show, as those are typically “all hands on deck” shows.
For now, though, all we know is that “The Beast” will appear on select house shows following the Royal Rumble. So, if you’re in either Dallas or Buffalo, and you’re interested in seeing Brock Lesnar completely destroy someone in less than a minute, then you’ll want to buy a ticket to those shows.
