In the latest WWE rumors and news, an aspiring mixed martial arts fighter has signed a new contract to work with WWE. The latest talent has high hopes of making it to the main roster with either WWE Raw or SmackDown Live becoming the beneficiary of a new women’s wrestling star. She’s not only talented in MMA, but also in terms of modeling and singing which could give WWE an interesting new superstar to work with in the future. Could it be the latest move in a line of other potential MMA stars signing on with the professional wrestling company?
According to The Sun in their report, the latest signee is Julie Real. The model, singer, and fighter is well known by her fans for her social media presence but had recently gone quiet from posting. However, just recently she brought forth the big news on her Instagram account that she’s signed a developmental deal with WWE.
“So everyone wonders why I’m always MIA. Well, this is why…I’ve been working towards dreams and proud to say I am now officially signed with WWE!”
“Like what I’ve learned through years of martial arts…each belt only means that you become a student all over again in that bracket.”
“This is just the beginning of my journey and I am so thankful for those who have been there for me. I’d like to give a special shout-out to all the people who have made this possible for me.”
She reportedly first auditioned her physique and techniques back in September of this year when she visited the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Real has since been training at Brian Kendrick’s gym to prepare herself for the rigors of a pro wrestling career. The particulars of her contract aren’t known at this point. However, it’s an interesting move ahead of two other speculated MMA stars who the WWE Universe keeps talking about.
In terms of female fighters, Ronda Rousey has been mentioned quite a bit as a potential signee for the future of WWE. Rousey has a fight on the way against the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunez. It’s been speculated that WWE may even be looking to bring Rousey into the mix for a WrestleMania match against former women’s champ Charlotte.
The other MMA star who has been mentioned extensively in WWE rumors is Conor McGregor. The brash and outspoken UFC champion did quite a bit of trash talking towards the WWE locker room including Brock Lesnar and John Cena. There have been rumors of a possible match involving McGregor and Triple H, but as of right now it seems Conor is also busy with MMA work, so it probably isn’t anything coming in the near future.
The WrestleZone site has indicated that Real is an “aspiring” star when it comes to the world of mixed martial arts, whereas McGregor and Rousey are much more established. The fact that Real has some modeling and singing talents could also eventually mean she could take over a backstage interviewer or ring announcer role similar to Brandi Rhodes, Jo Jo, Charley Caruso, and other female talents who came to the WWE.
However, as of this report, it appears that her full intentions are to eventually get onto the main roster with the Raw or SmackDown programs. Time will tell if this fighter, who is relatively unknown by the majority of WWE fans, will be able to transition into that sort of role.
Wrestling fans, what do you think of the latest signing by WWE for a developmental contract? Will Julie Real eventually make it onto the main roster, and will it be as part of the women’s wrestling lineup, or in another role?
