WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns Will Win Universal Championship Title, But Will He Hold Two Belts? - The Inquisitr

On tonight’s Monday Night Raw, we will certainly get more insight into what’s to happen with superstar Roman Reigns during Roadblock. But even though the latest WWE rumors suggest that Reigns will rip the Universal Championship belt from Kevin Owens’ clutching claws of defeat, what remains to be seen is whether or not he will, in fact, be one of the few wrestlers to ever hold two titles at the same time.

That’s the word according to Forbes, whose latest round of WWE rumors suggests that this plan of Reigns taking the Universal title from Kevin Owens wasn’t originally planned by WWE creative. In fact, the original plan was for Reigns and Owens to face off for the U.S. Championship title, but Forbes suggests that the Universal title match was planned, instead, to protect Reigns’ standing in the company.

Even though the fan reaction against Reigns is as strong (read: as negative) as ever before, the fact is, the WWE knows that a Roman Reigns match will draw in ratings, for better or for worse.

And if it means that WWE has to make Owens into less of a fighter to make Reigns look strong, so be it.

“The issue isn’t with Reigns himself or his abilities in the ring. It’s all about creative going to incredible lengths to keep him atop Raw, even if it’s at the expense of Owens losing clean.”

Meanwhile, according to the latest WWE rumors report from The International Business Times UK, because Roman Reigns’ turn as a face isn’t working out for the best for him, there’s an increasing call for him to turn heel. And there’s no one leading the charge to turn Roman Reigns heel more than the legendary “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Austin, who is making a living these days with appearances and several successful businesses, told the outlet that a heel turn is the only hope for Reigns to become universally accepted by fans, much in the way it happened for Reigns’ cousin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“That’s what’s going to make it fun again because everybody is going to be so onboard with booing him! I’m telling you, once he goes through that process, whether that takes one year, two years, [or] whatever, then, they’re going to end up loving the guy.”

Finally, the latest round of WWE rumors from the FanRag Sports blog suggest that, whether Roman Reigns turns heel or stays face, taking home the Universal Championship will be nothing if not good for him.

However, the site believes that Reigns will be one of the few wrestlers in history to hold two titles at the same time, meaning that right after Roadblock, he’ll hold both the United States Championship and the Universal Championship. And there’s one big reason why WWE creative wants this for Reigns: Wrestlemania 33.

To put it simply, if Vince McMahon wants Roman Reigns to be taken seriously as a fighter, he needs to be shown as indomitable. And if Reigns goes into Wrestlemania 33 with two titles on his back, he will have earned the respect of the audience, no matter if he’s a heel or if he’s a face.
