New Day vs. Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson: WWE Tag Team Match Winner, Reaction - Bleacher Report

The New Day continued their march toward becoming the longest-reigning tag team champions in WWE history Monday on Raw, as they defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to retain their titles.

The WWE Universe captured how the match finished:

Gallows and Anderson dominated much of the match, and that's why Bleacher Report's Kevin Berge enjoyed it:

With another match ending in fishy fashion, Bleacher Report's Ryan Dilbert wondered if this was the new normal for the New Day:

Gallows and Anderson were granted a championship match after defeating the Golden Truth last week, while New Day successfully defended their belts in a match against Cesaro and Sheamus.

At Survivor Series, New Day were shockingly eliminated early in the match when The Usos took out Kofi Kingston. Raw went on to win with Cesaro and Sheamus lasting as the sole survivors, which led to their title shot.

Despite getting ousted almost immediately, New Day credited themselves with Raw's Survivor Series win due to their status as team captains, according to WWE Universe on Twitter:

Cesaro and Sheamus begged to differ, and they rode the wave of momentum created at Survivor Series to a near Tag Team Championship win. Xavier Woods created a distraction by playing his trombone, however, which allowed Big E and Kofi to capitalize and escape with the win.

Woods' antics hearkened back to New Day's heel run and showed they were willing to do anything to surpass Demolition's 478-day Tag Team Championship reign.

That didn't seem to worry Gallows and Anderson, as they expressed the utmost confidence in their abilities to become WWE Tag Team champions for the first time, per WWE's official Twitter account:

Gallows and Anderson already had multiple cracks at the titles against New Day, but they came away empty-handed due to New Day's resourcefulness.

While Gallows and Anderson entered Monday's match still trying to fully find their footing in WWE, there is no denying that they have been one of the world's most successful tag teams in recent years.

Most of that success occurred in Japan, as they won the IWGP Tag Team Championships together on three occasions as members of the Bullet Club.

Gallows and Anderson made the leap to WWE along with AJ Styles, but it has taken them longer to reach the top than The Phenomenal One, who is currently WWE world champion.

They had a chance to reverse their fortunes Monday, but New Day once again found a way to escape with the Raw Tag Team Championships in tow.

The fact that Gallows and Anderson are the top heel team on Raw suggests they may never stray far from the title scene, but yet another loss in a big-match situation doesn't bode well for their credibility.

As for New Day, they are closing in on WWE history, and considering how consistently entertaining they have been, there doesn't appear to be an end in sight to their reign.
