Home favourite Shinsuke Nakamura regained the NXT Championship from Samoa Joe in Osaka at the brand's first-ever live event in Japan.

Nakamura triumphed with a Kinshasha kick to reclaim the belt he shipped to Joe at TakeOver: Toronto last month and end the Submission Specialist's second stint with the strap at 14 days.

Joe's reign with the NXT Championship is the shortest in history and a long way from the 121-day spell he enjoyed with the title before he was downed by Nakamura in Brooklyn in August.

Nakumara, who initially held the title for 91 days, and Joe are two of nine men to win NXT's top prize, a list which also includes Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Big E, Neville and Bo Dallas.

Seth Rollins was the inaugural champion, while Ireland's Finn Balor is the longest reigning titleholder to date having carried the belt for 292 days between July 2015 and April 2016.

NXT Women's Champion Asuka matched her compatriot Nakamura's success in Osaka, defeating Nia Jax, but Akira Tozawa and Tajiri fell to NXT Tag Team Titlists Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.
