WWE shows appreciation with 'Tribute to the Troops' - WBAL Baltimore
FORT MEADE, Md. —

The WWE will hold its 14th annual "Tribute to the Troops" show Tuesday night in Washington, D.C.

But this year, WWE superstars went an extra round to show their support, which included a stop at Fort George G. Meade.

Their visit was not for an episode of “Monday Night Raw” or “Smackdown Live,” but the WWE superstars who came out to Fort Meade with the same enthusiasm.

The WWE was on the installation, where they trained with the Asymmetric Warfare Group, highly trained warriors who showed warriors of the ring the ropes, literally.

“I'm all harnessed up,” WWE superstar Bayley said. “I'm about to put my helmet on so we'll see what happens. I'll be safe no matter what.”

Repelling from a 50-foot tower and practicing on the firing range was part of the training. The team at Fort Meade even brought out the big guns for The Big Show.

"To get some quick tips and training from the best in the world,” The Big Show said. “For me, I'm a kid in a candy store. This is awesome.”

But The Big Show said he really here to say thanks.

"We get a chance to get out and get involved, go visit some bases, go visit some troops and try to let them know that we appreciate the sacrifices they're making,” The Big Show said.

Members of military said there's been a long history between them and WWE superstars.

“I've been to Iraq three times myself, 36 months,” said Major Charles Barrett, with the Asymmetric Warfare Group. “We had WWE fly over, so I got to see them on my third tour and that means a lot.”

After training with the Asymmetric Warfare Group, the WWE superstars took time to visit with students at schools on the installation to talk with them about bullying.

"Bullying is the problem,” The Big Show said. “Whether it's cyber bullying or bullying in school, (we want to show) how to recognize bullying and form you own chapter for anti-bullying.”

For those with the WWE, they wanted to use the day to show that you can have a tough exterior, but a huge heart.
